I just got on!

Hello Nancy and fellow WRR-ers!
I just wanted to say how excited I am about what I see happening to our group lately.
People seem to be getting involved to a greater degree and looking forward to the growth of WRR both in numbers and scope. My sincere hope is to develop lasting friendships along the way.

Hello, all --
I have a specific challenge that I doubt is unique to me, and I hope some of you might be able to offer some help or advice.
I moved back to Milford after decades living in other states to enable my 94-yr. old aunt to remain in her own home, with her beloved dog. The arrangement has worked surprisingly well for both my aunt and me. But every time we have a home repair issue, I find myself at sea. I don't have a network of local pals who can share their contractor "finds" with me. And my aunt has outlived her network of pals. Yes, I know the steps for vetting contractors and the essential step of getting everything in writing, checking bbb.com, etc. But, oh, do I miss the power of the personal recommendation. I am currently looking for a carpenter for a small job (perhaps 2-3 hours). And I really want a bona fide carpenter, not a handy husband. Can anyone recommend one? Many thanks --

the blog is working

Hi again Nancy...

Had lunch with Carol, Jammie came late but we three went to the
movies... fun to do on a hot, hot day.
I'll see you next Monday.

Women and Girls grant

We are pleased to announce that the Milford Public Library has received a grant from the Women & Girls Fund, a dedicated fund of the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. This grant will allow the Library to continue hosting the programs and meetings of Women Redefining Retirement. The grant also contains funding to acquire a current collection of retirement resources, including books, books on CD, and DVD's about retirement.
We would like to thank Marcia Winter and Barbara Weinberg for contributing so much of themselves to this grant. Without their valuable input and hard work, this grant would not have happened.

Welcome to Women Redefining Retirement

We've created this blog to help all of you express your feelings and get to know each other. I'm so proud to know all of you strong, independent women, and I'm very grateful to Barbara Weinberg for having the idea that our community was in need of a gathering of women to support each other in this life transition. I'm very pleased that the Milford Public Library is able to offer this group a meeting space, and an opportunity to learn and network.
